Remove a Label

Trigger a rule by removing a label from a task

Example Rules

  • When the “Waiting” label is removed from a task, move the task to the “To Do” section.
  • When the “Waiting” label is removed from a task, add the “Next” label.
  • When the “Important” label is removed from a task, add it straight back so the label stays on the task.

Filtering this trigger

You can narrow when this trigger fires by adding a filter, so a rule only runs on the tasks you care about. This trigger can filter by label, due date, or deadline.

On the Pro plan you can combine more than one filter at once, and every filter has to match for the rule to run.

If you filter by a label and later delete that label in Todoist, we remove any rule that relied on it. This keeps your rules from silently pointing at a label that no longer exists.
